Our Partnership
In July 2001, the decision was made to bring the Chamber of Commerce, Industrial Development Authority and Tourism under one organizational structure known as the Community Development Partnership. In the spring of 2002, the Main Street Association also entered into this organization. This organizational merging allows us to have one focal point for activities involving business, industry and tourism.
The Community Development Partnership is comprised of 3 Chamber of Commerce Board members, 3 Industrial Development Board members, 3 Main Street Board members, 3 Tourism Council members, 2 representatives from the county, 2 representatives from the city and 2 representatives from the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.
The goal, therefore, is to lead Philadelphia-Neshoba County into becoming a community where existing industry prospers, new industries want to locate, tourists want to visit and residents are overwhelmingly proud to call home.
And what is a community?
It is not only the place where you live; it is where you establish your roots, build friendships and raise your family. It is a place where people truly know each other. Philadelphia-Neshoba County is a great community. The challenge now is to find the best ways in which local business people and citizens can share this welcoming feeling with others and bring the community to outsiders through tourism and economic development efforts.
The Community Development Partnership will be the leader of this joint effort between these four organizations and will provide the community with one voice to help make the community a better place to live and work.
